The Fajr prayer is the 2 raka’at obligatory prayer (‘Fajr’ prayer) of the five daily prayers

Prayer

Step 1 – Prayer Intention (Niyyah) – (Morning) Prayers – “Fajr”

First, stand up and Face the Qibla and perform your Intention (Niyyah)

I OFFER “Fajr” (Morning) Prayers seeking nearness to God, in obedience to Him

Note: “Fajr” (Morning) Prayers are said in a loud voice by Males only which can be heard by someone close by

Step 2 – Starting Prayer “Takbirat al-’Ihram”

While Standing upright facing the direction of Al-Ka’bah.

Lift both hands up to your ears and say: “Allahu Akbar

(Allah is greater than what he is described as)

Rakaat #1 – Start

Rakaat-Surah #1 Al-Fatiha

Note: * Qira-at (Recitation), It is Wajib (compulsory) to recite Surah Al-Fatiha (1st chapter from the Holy Quran) for the first and second
Rakaat's in prayer. 
* Females should recite in a soft voice. Males will recite aloud during Fajr, Megrib and Isha prayers

Start: Recite First Surah (Surah Al-Fatiha)

Rakaat-Surah #2 Al-Ikhlas

Note: Continue to recite the second Surah (chapter). 
In the Second chapter, you can choose to recite any other chapter from the Holy Quran other than Surat Al-fatiha 
Below we have selected chapter 112 which is Al-Ikhlas.

Start: Recite Second Surah,  Al-Ikhlas

Bow Down – “Ruku”

Note: Bend half-way down and perform “Ruku” and keep both hands on your legs just above your knees

say: “SUBHAN ALLAH” (3 times)

Standing up after Bowing – “Julus”

Note: Straighten up into a stationary standing position and while standing straight

say: “ALLAH HU AKBAR”

Go into prostration “Sujood”

Note: Go down to prostration (Sujood) so that the forehead touches the place of Sujood directly
make sure that the material covering the head is not in the way. While the forehead is in prostration

say: “SUBHAN ALLAH” (3 times)

Sit up after prostration “Julus”

Note: Sit up after prostration (Sujood). While in a seated stationary position

say: “ALLAH HU AKBAR”

Rakaat-Surah #1

Note: Qira-at (Recitation), It is Wajib (compulsory) to recite Surah Al-Fatiha (1st chapter from the Holy Quran, 
followed by any other complete Surah in the first two rakaats of prayer



Start: Recite First Surah (Surah Al-Fatiha)

  1. Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
  2. Alhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen
  3. Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem
  4. Maaliki Yawmid-Deen
  5. Iyyaaka na’budu wa lyyaaka nasta’een
  6. Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqeem
  7. Siraatal-latheena an’amta ‘alaihim 
  8. ghayril-maghdoobi ‘alaihim 
  9. wa lad-daaalleen

“Qunoot”

Qunoot (after Second Surah in 2nd Rakat - While still standing) - This step is not compulsory but recommended.

Raise your hands and bring them together in front of your face, with the palms of your hands raised up, inclined towards you and ask Allah for anything
(Dua) otherwise it is recommend to read a dua from the Holy Quraan.

Example: The following Dua from the Holy Quran [2:201]

Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire 

Say:

  1. RABBANA AATINA FIDDOONYA HASANATAWN
  2. WA FIL AAKHERA-TI HASANATAWN
  3. WA QINA AZABAN NAR

Then Say:

“ALLAH HU AKBAR”

  1. ASSALAM MU ALAIKA AYYUHAN NABIYYU WA RAHMAT UL LAHI WA BARAKATUH
  2. ASSALAM MU ALAINA WA ALA IBAD DIL LAHIS SUALIHEEN
  3. ASSALAM MU ALAIKUM WA RAHMATUL LAHI WABARAKATUH
